Does Your Hitting Match World Series Hitting?
October 25, 2024
Hi

World Series Hitting Analyzed

In my last newsletter I talked about AI (Artificial Intelligence) and how we could use it in our respective sports.

Now I want to use it to analyze hitting.

Do you know of Perplexity.ai?

It's a powerful research AI. You can ask it anything and it crawls the entire web and many other resources to come up with its answers.

So when I asked it to analyze this year's World Series Hitting, it came up with this:

2024 World Series: A Clash of Titans

This year's World Series features an unprecedented concentration of elite hitting talent:

It includes five former MVP winners: Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, and Mookie Betts for the Dodgers; Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton for the Yankees.

Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani, likely the 2024 MVPs for their respective leagues, will face each other.

The series features 26 players who were formerly ranked in MLB Pipeline's Top 100 Prospects list, the highest number since tracking began in 20173.

Historical Perspective

MVP vs. MVP matchups in the World Series have occurred several times, but they've become less frequent in the modern era: Since the Divisional Era began in 1969, MVPs from both leagues have faced each other in the World Series only six times.

The last occurrence was in 2012 when Miguel Cabrera (Tigers) faced Buster Posey (Giants).

Prior to 1969, it happened more frequently, with 20 instances recorded.

Teaching Your Hitters

So watching the World Series should showcase some excellent hitters that you might be able to learn from, but then how do you translate that to getting your hitters to hit like that?

Not to mention how do you get that kids that don't even swing the bat, or they bale out before the pitch even gets to the plate, or they only hit weak ground balls to even get their first hit or their first hit ball out of the infield?

I've taken my 52 years of coaching and distilled the 5 basic core movements into a 3 day mini course to get these non-hitters to start swinging the bat correctly and having success in a way I haven't seen any other coach have with these beginning hitters.

If you're interested or know of a parent or coach who might be interested in learning this please go (or have them go) to this link. 3DayMiniCourse.html
